Raanan Katz's Bio:

Raanan Katz retired from professional basketball and began to purchase residential properties in Boston, Massachusetts, in the 1970s. This was the first stage in the development of RK Centers, and Mr. Katz obtained more than 2,000 residential apartment units within a few years. He began purchasing commercial properties in 1980, and he acquired his first property in Florida in 1984. RK Centers now owns and operates open-air shopping centers throughout New England and South Florida, and it counts major companies among its tenants, including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Hannaford Supermarket, and The Home Depot.  Most recently, RK Centers changed its name from RK Associates to better represent its core agenda.  When he’s not overseeing the management and leasing of properties at the company, Mr. Katz continues to work within the basketball industry. He was an original partner of the Miami Heat expansion franchise, which has become one of most the profitable franchises in the National Basketball Association, and Mr. Katz and his wife regularly attend Miami Heat games.

Since the team’s inaugural season in 1988, Mr. Katz has been a fixture at courtside in the Miami Arena. Through the joint efforts of both Mr. Katz and fellow partner, Micky Arison (Chief Executive Officer of Carnival Cruise Lines), the Heat have developed into one of the league’s most successful and profitable franchises.
